Leader Music US Division officially opens, Jim Donahue named President. NJG USA and Leader Musical Instruments Combine forces.

Jim Donahue has been named President of Leader Music USA a new division of Leader Musical Instrument Company, LTD of Weifang China. Leader Musical manufactures high quality guitars in China using imported parts from all over the world.

Jim Donahue has been in the music business since he was 20 years old, first packing and shipping, then repairing guitars, during the late 1980’s he was trained on building electric guitars from the Japanese workers at Fuji-Gen Gakki in Matsumoto Japan. At that time he was working in as a custom shop builder, hand building guitars for some of the biggest names in the industry, During the early 1990’s Mr. Donahue was sent to Korea to help transition guitar production from Japan to Korea because of the exchange rate problems with the Yen. It was at that time that he met Tonny Kim founder of World Musical Instruments in Korea.  In the late 1990’s Mr. Donahue began negotiating business between Music stores and the Korean factories.

After I found that Tonny had moved his base of operations and opened a factory in Qingdao, China.  I felt it was time to get back in the business, Now a days Korean guitars are becoming more expensive and the Labor laws in Korea are causing production delays in Korea, this is causing a big loss in turns for distributors, Leader Musical Instruments is dedicated to the mission of supplying higher quality select fretted instruments to the world market in an affordable price range, thus is poised to take a large chunk of the higher end Korean production.

Leader now has three locations, The main office for paperwork, customs documents and communication in Inchon Korea, A 400,000 Square foot manufacturing facility in Weifang China and now the USA office in Feasterville Pennsylvania. The USA office has a full  CNC equipped R&D center, repair, custom shop and marketing facility; all communications will also be handled at this location.

Our next phase will be US production, starting with assembly and moving into 100% US manufactured products, set to start operation by January 2010
