George Benson Models
The GB Series was introduced in 1978 and is still available today.

The original models were the GB10 and GB20

In 1986 the GB30 was introduced.

In 1990 the GB12th anniversary model was introduced.

In 1991 the GB100 was introduced

In 1993 the GB5 was introduced

GB10

The GB10 is basically the same model today that it was since it was introduced. A few details have changed like the tuners because Ibanez has improved the machine heads since 1978 but the basic model has remained the same. This model has a Laminated Spruce top, Flame Maple back and sides, 3 pc Maple neck, 24 3/4 inch scale and a Ebony fretboard. The pickups are floating off the body and are mini Humbucking pickups. The bridge pickup is attached to the pickguard and the neck pickup is attached to the neck. The Tailpiece has two tension adjustment screws that adjust the string tension on either the low 3 strings or the high 3 strings. It also used a Half Bone and Half Brass nut. The finish was and still is NT and BS.

GB20

The GB20 was introduced in 1978 but only was in production until 1983. It was available in NT and BS. These are hard models to find these days. The basic body size was much larger than the GB10 and it only had a neck pickup. The volume control was mounted on the pickguard. The top was laminated spruce and the back and sides were flame maple. The neck was the same as the GB10.

GB30

The GB30 Model was introduced in 1886. This Model was a much thinner model with black Hardware, (A Regular Gibraltar II Bridge and Quick change tailpiece.The Guitar used a Center Block like an ES335 would and was a single Cutaway model with two F holes. It was available in BK and TR. This Guitar used 2 Black Super 58 Pickups This Model was discontinued in 1993..

 

GB12 and GB100

These are basically the same model however the GB12 was the 12th anniversary model and the GB100 was just a stock model. These guitars have a Laminated Flame maple top and Flame maple B\back and sides. The Body is 1/2 inch thicker than the GB10 but the shape, Width and length are the same as the GB10. The neck is Laminated Maple Mahogany Maple.

 

GB5

The GB5 Model was introduced in 1993-1994 but was originally a Lacquer finish but Production on the Lacquer model was too small so in 1995 they started using Urethane finish. The body is much larger than the GB10 more like the original GB20 and it uses 2 Super 58 pickups. the body is laminated Spruce Top with Flame Maple back and sides. 3 piece Maple neck and an Ebony Fretboard. This model is available in BS only.
